Westports announces the appointment of three new non-executive directors
Westports Holdings Berhad (“Westports” or the “Company”) has announced the appointment of both Datuk Siti Zauyah Md Desa (“Datuk Siti Zauyah”) and Encik Ahmad Zubir Zahid (“Encik Ahmad Zubir”) as Independent Non-Executive Directors to its Board of Directors effective 1 January 2021. On the same day, Ms. Diana Tung Wan Lee (“Ms. Lee”), has also been appointed as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director. Ms. Lee replaced Ms. Ruth Sin Ling Tsim as the latter has resigned on 31 December 2021.
In addition to being Independent Non-Executive Directors to the Company’s Board, Datuk Siti Zauyah has also been appointed as the Chairman of the newly formed Sustainability Committee on 1 January 2022. Meanwhile, Encik Ahmad Zubir was also appointed as a Member of the Risk Management Committee on 1 January 2022. Ms. Lee is the Corporate Representative Director of Hutchison Port Holdings Management Pte. Limited as the latter is a major shareholder of the Company through South Port Investment Holdings Limited. She was appointed as a Member of Risk Management Committee on the same day.
Datuk Siti Zauyah is currently a Director of Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Cagamas Holdings Berhad, Cagamas SRP Berhad and a Member of Board of Trustee of Capital Market Development Fund. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from the University of Reading, United Kingdom, a Diploma in Public Administration from the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), and a Master in Business Administration (International Banking) from the University of Manchester. Datuk Siti Zauyah has extensive working experience with the Ministry of Finance Malaysia (MOF), Asian Development Bank and the Public Works Department.
Encik Ahmad Zubir is currently a Director of Zulu Capital Sdn Bhd, a registered private equity firm, Executive Director of Thinkat Advisory Sdn Bhd, a licensed boutique corporate finance advisory firm and the Managing Partner of Zubir Chang & Co. PLT, a licensed audit firm. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. Encik Ahmad Zubir is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, an Associate of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, and is a Chartered Valuer and Appraiser of the Institute of Valuers and Appraisers, Singapore. He also holds a Capital Markets Services Representative’s Licence from the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and is a licensed company auditor.
Ms. Lee is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Hutchison Port Holdings Limited. She was the Finance and Legal Director and Company Secretary of Yantian International Container Terminals and serves as a member of the HPH Trust Exco. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from University of Melbourne and is an Associate of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
Their appointment will enhance the Company’s Board of Directors diversity, expertise, and leadership capabilities, thus providing more robust guidance and corporate governance oversight to Westports. As of 1 January 2021, 4 out of 13 of the Company’s Board of Directors are female.
